Have you been considering remodeling your home?  Maybe you’re thinking about getting rid of a bedroom you don’t use to expand another.  If you’re planning on selling your home at some point in the near future, you may want to think carefully about what renovations you plan to do as certain things could decrease your home’s value.  What are some of these renovations that could potentially negatively affect your home?  Let’s take a look.

Be careful about removing closets, as closets are something of a must have among buyers.  In fact, many realtors will tell you that buyers will count the number of closets in a room as people always need more and more space.

Over 70 percent of buyers have said that a garage is a critical feature when buying a home, so you may want to think twice about turning it into a family room or office space as many people tend to do.  If you do plan on remodeling, consider at least leaving the garage doors on the outside so that a future buyer has the flexibility of converting it back into a garage.

Take some time to evaluate whether you want to use wallpaper.  Removing wallpaper is one of the most annoying aspects when renovating, particularly if there is an extensive amount of it throughout the home.
